Player Bio and Testimonial

I am 18 years old and have been playing baseball since I was 6. Baseball has always been my obsession; I have studied all aspects of the game and had the opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches and teammates along the way. I have also benefited from the unwavering support of my parents and family, without whom I could never have accomplished what I have. I have played select baseball almost since the beginning and have been a part of some great (and not so great) teams. I was a 4-year High School varsity starter and, as a freshman, hit 5th and played MIF on a Texas 5A/6A High School team that went all the way to the State semifinals. My coaches would say I am a hard worker; my HS coach once commented I was one of the hardest workers he’s ever coached. I understand that hard work translates into positive results. I want to bring those results to every team I have the privilege of playing for. There is so much to know and learn in the game of baseball – it’s impossible to know everything, but I am going to give it my best shot! Because of my dedication to the sport, my coaches have always bragged that I have a high “baseball IQ”. It’s one of the reasons I’ve been encouraged to catch. In truth, I enjoy every position and will play anywhere I am needed. I have proven I can make a meaningful contribution as a starter at any position. I am consistently in the top 1/3 in average and OBP on any team I play for as well. Please review the attached coach’s letters for an overview of my versatility and dedication. Due to Covid and other personal challenges, I am behind on my recruiting efforts. I hope that doesn’t reflect on my “recruitability” or my ability to make a strong contribution to any team. Please review my resume and consider allowing me the opportunity to tryout with your organization. Thank you! Pierce Hallan

Coach Testimonials

To whom it may concern, I met Pierce Hallan when he was 8 years old, and the intangible that’s always stood out from age 8 through age 18 is the fact that he’s a gamer. When the competition is fiercest, Pierce is at his best. Another thing that’s unique about Pierce is how he is quick to admit mistakes and make changes. I love how honest he is with himself and others after failing at something. When mistakes happen Pierce accepts responsibility and moves on. I typically hear something like this: “That was my fault coach. I did X wrong. I’ll fix it.” And he does fix whatever the issue is, by following it up with more practice or a focused lesson on what he needs to improve. When it comes to performance, Pierce is pushing 90 mph when pitching. Just this weekend we scrimmaged a local community college and, facing players 2-4 years older than him, he threw two shutout innings. That arm strength makes him a difference maker in the field as well. We’ve worked him at short, third and he’s done a fine job catching. He has a plus bat when it comes to batting average, OPS and slugging percentage. When it comes to his ability to contribute in a college community, Pierce is the kind of person who can thrive at this next level. He’s a very, very smart young man who is a strong teammate and loves being challenged. Pierce Hallan will be successful and an impact person at whatever college he chooses because he loves to be part of a team, and is a hard worker. He’s a fierce competitor who I love going to battle with. Sincerely, Mike Ostrom Head Varsity Coach - TACA Gold www.TacaBaseball.org 214-632-6230

To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this letter on behalf of Pierce Hallan. Pierce was an athlete in my program as well as a student in my Physics class. As a student, Pierce was diligent in his studies. Was never a discipline problem in the classroom. Dependable student who turned in assignments on time, worked well with others, and participated in the days lesson. Pierce is a strong student academically and understands the value of his education. Regarding baseball skills, Pierce will be regarded as one of the most versatile players to ever play for me. Extremely competitive and a true gamer. We played Pierce at short stop, behind the plate, and on the mound. Contact hitter and could work deep counts. Very athletic with natural ball instincts. Above average glove. Above average arm. Average speed on the bases, with above average base running instincts. Bulldog on the mound, average FB velo with above avg off-speed. Pitcher mentality that knew how to get outs. Pierce would be in the top short stops, catchers, or pitchers that I have coached. Pierce Hallan is an above average high school player who I feel possesses the abilities to play at the next level. If given the opportunity, Pierce would be a great player in college. Regards, Heath Andrews Heath Andrews Head Baseball Coach Physics Teacher Wylie East High School
