Player Bio and Testimonial
My name is Zach Tierney, and I am a senior at South Pittsburg High School in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Currently, I am ranked 4th in my class with a GPA of 3.98. I have taken the ACT exam, and my current composite score is 23 with a super score of 24. I plan on taking the exam at least two more times to increase these scores. My future plans include attending either a two-year junior college or a four-year university with a major in Robotics and/or Mechanical Engineering. I am driven to succeed both academically and athletically.
Baseball has been my passion for several years. Even though I have played other sports growing up, baseball is the most important to me. In addition to playing for South Pittsburg, I have played travel baseball for Rawlings based out of Dalton, Georgia, and currently, I am a member of eXposure Baseball from Chattanooga, Tennessee. Also, for the past seven years, I have been taking private hitting and pitching lessons from Bowman Athletics in Jasper, TN.
2023 was a breakthrough year for me at the high school level. As a junior, I batted .350 with an OPS of .814, and 29 RBIs, all of which led the team for the 2023 season.
In closing, playing baseball at the collegiate level has been my dream for years. I have worked very hard in the classroom, on the playing field, and in the weight room to hopefully make this dream come true. As I only just turned 17 at the end of September, I am a young senior so I try to work harder than everyone else in an effort to excel my level of play on a team where I am always the youngest.
