Player Bio and Testimonial
Hello from Alaska! My name is Nadia Chernich (2024 Catcher/Outfield) and I live north of North Pole, Alaska. I have played 8 varsity sports at Monroe Catholic High School and made it to the State Championships in each of them, but have a 100% focus on playing softball in college.
I am a published author on Amazon and have been in Gifted & Talented courses since I started school. I have a 3.92 GPA in the 2nd semester of my Junior year and scored 31 on the ACT Reading. I took AP Psychology (98%) and AP Computer Science (99%) as a freshman, dual credit Medical Science college courses my sophomore year, and Pre-Calculus my junior year.
I fly a lot to face the best pitching in the country. I am on the Lady Dukes Lamar-Vega national Premier team coached by James Lamar and Tony Vega. I also regularly attend other showcase events around the country filling my schedule.
There is not a lot of local competition where I live. We have snow on the ground from August-May. That is why I have to travel 100,000 miles every year. I have competed with top talent around the country: as a softball All-American and also playing baseball against kids from around the world. I love to hit the ball and use my athleticism and speed. I also enjoy throwing out runners trying to steal or by picking them off. My overhand velocity in baseball is 73 MPH and with a softball is 67 MPH with 1.70 pop time.
I am strong and bring energy to the game. Last summer I led an experienced 18U NW Bullets team in batting average, on-base percentage, OPS and stolen bases. Many of those players are now playing in college. It has also been fun and exciting to be interviewed multiple times by MLB, HBO, Yahoo Sports and newspapers as a top baseball player. I have trained with the US Women's National Team for baseball for months in Vero Beach, Florida. I got to throw out the first pitch at Dodger Stadium for Jackie Robinson Day. At the high school State Baseball Tournament as a sophomore in 2022, I was twice named Player of the Game and awarded a spot on the All-State Team.
I spend a lot of time playing sports but like to unwind by sewing, reading mythology, and volunteering at the food bank. I also got my first paid job: umpiring baseball games -- and that is my ultimate goal in sports (MLB did a story on it).

I have played on Team USA and Team Canada for women's baseball and softball. I enjoy representing my country and travelling. Because I live in Alaska, I am used to spending a lot of time on planes and driving. I have been named All-Conference in 8 different varsity sports, All-State in 6 sports, and All-American in softball.

Nadia Chernich is a tremendously gifted athlete!! While she is living in Alaska, she and her parents are flying over 100k miles per year to get her to travel tournaments and showcases in the lower 48. This young lady has a work ethic that in simply IMPRESSIVE!!! I have seen this young lady doing catching drills in a foot of snow. I have seen this kid hitting for hours outside in snowy, cold conditions just to get her work in as she prepares for tournaments and camps. She is a very athletic person with power and explosive skills. She has a 66 mph overhand velo. She has a 72 mph ball exit speed. She has a 2.78 home to first time and she has a 1.70/ 1.72 pop time at the BYU camp this summer!!! Her transfer from glove to hand is smooth. She does a great job of playing CF as well. She has great speed and has the ability to track balls and hold opponents to singles. in the classroom, she is a 4.0 student and scored 24 on the ACT as an 8th grader, She will be retaking the ACT soon. Nadia is searching for a great fit!! She is willing to look at every program that shows interest in her. There is no limitation to where she can travel and attend college. Pure, tough athlete. Always hustles and competes. Natural power to hit homeruns and speed on the bases. She is the player you want up to bat. She is clutch! Many game-winning and 2-out hits. Nadia is a vocal leader who has an impact on the game in many different ways. Her arm is a major plus. Many times she has gotten the team out of jams with pickoffs at 1st or 3rd. Nobody steals on her. She expects the team to be all-in and working/thinking as hard as her. Wonderful attitude and super intelligent.
