Stance & Load
PLUS
"Stance" describes the starting position of the hitter's feet, hands, bat,body and balance. "Loading" involves shifting body weight towards the back leg for power and quickness. The loading of the hands should be small, quiet and diagonally upward creating rhythm and proper timing. The barrel of the bat MUST be controlled.
Stride & Direction
AVERAGE
"Stride" describes the movement and distance of the front foot stepping forward. Sometimes involving an inward kick, it creates the timing of the swing. The hitter should "Stay Back" with their weight and balance slightly on the back leg.
Staying Back
AVERAGE
The hitter should "Stay Back" with their weight and balance slightly on the back leg. The more a hitter's weight can stay balanced at contact, the better the chance of producing a powerful hit.
Swing & Finish
EXCELLENT
The "Swing Path" is how the bat moves through the strike zone. There should be a level or flat lifting path as the barrel of the bat enters the back of the zone and explodes to contacting the ball. The path needs to be more linear than rotational in this phase allowing for more plate coverage and opportunity to hit the ball.
Aggressiveness
PLUS
An aggressive hitter swings hard every time, attacks the pitch, and is fun to watch. A hitter who swings tentatively to avoid missing the pitch will create bad habits.
Overall Comments:
Good setup. Everything is athletic and quiet. The best thing is that your barrel is steady and controlled as your hands load! The direction your hands are loading is where you need improvement. Your hands "bobble" up and down and do it too fast and inconsistently I like the knee kick alot. Watch that the distance of your stride doesnt increase in the games with more adrenaline. Work on your consistency of the kick. At times the speed and control of it get fast and far. Good aggressive momentum forward. Be careful that your back knee doesn't flare out towards the catcher. Your back knee needs to stay "inside" your back foot! It will help you get even more backside drive and power. Excellent contact and barrel out front! Should have power to all fields with your stroke.Keep working on the front arm direction- do not let it pull your hands out of the zone and pull the outside pitches. Good degree of lift! Overall this is a very good swing. Make sure you do not pull your head and eyes out too early. Keep tracking the ball deep in the zone. I think you have some big things ahead in your future. Keep working....make the small corrections and Stay Aggressive!

Bat Exit Velo

Exit velocity is measured using a radar gun and is the only direct measure of the power behind a hit. Studies have shown that for every extra one mile-per-hour added to exit velocity, the ball will travel an estimated four to six feet further, depending on its trajectory and launch angle.
Launch Angle
Launch Angle represents the vertical angle at which the ball leaves a player's bat after being struck. Average Launch Angle (aLA) is calculated by dividing the sum of all Launch Angles by all Batted Ball Events. If you have a good Attack Angle when hitting the ball and a good finish in your swing, your Launch Angle will generally be good too.
Distance in Zone

Distance In The Zone measures the length of the hitting zone along a line toward the pitcher. It is determined by the region ‘swept’ by the bat. A longer hitting zone means a greater opportunity for the bat to make contact with the ball and gives the batter an opportunity to put the ball in fair territory.
Barrel Speed
The maximum speed of the bat’s barrel during your swing, at a point 20% from the tip of the bat. Max Barrel Speed greatly affects both the distance and speed at which the ball travels after impact. Faster barrel speed leads to more hard hit balls and a higher ball exit velocity.

The main goal when working on your game is to have "PLUS" mechanics and not only did you accomplish that goal, but you have surpassed it. Now reach for the Gold, and keep working hard on your game to achieve ultimate greatness in achieving all "8's", a Perfect Score!

DI/All-American/Pro Potential. In the MLB Scouting world, we call this "Above Average" or a "Plus" swing. Nice job in putting a very nice-looking swing together here. There are obviously always things you can do to improve, so pay attention to the scouts comments and your coaches to help your swing advance. Great job here!

High School Player/College Potential. Very nice-looking swing. It's good to know as a player that you have a nice AVERAGE swing, but there are pieces here in your swing that can improve, so work hard and focus on the areas of your swing here that have been identified that are not well above average (6+). Study the scouts comments, work with your coaches and work hard. You can do this!

Middle School, High School Player. You have some really good qualities in your swing, and then there are areas that you need to improve in so pay attention to the scouts comments and what your coaches are working on with you, and go out and practice what you are being taught. We know you can improve here from BELOW AVERAGE with hard work, and believe you can achieve anything!

Middle School Recreational/JV,Freshman High School Player. Looks like there are some good things happening and there are categories in your swing we need to improve on to help you be the hitter you want to be. Take one category of your swing at a time, pay attention to the scouts comments and your coaches and go out and practice hard for a few days on that "one" piece of your swing. Then move on to the next category and do the same thing. Don't get caught up in working on multiple areas in one batting practice session. Move down your list in your scouting report here and practice-practice-practice. Your hard work will pay off!

Recreational Player. So, we have some work to do here and begin your journey to get better. The best way to get better in anything you do in life is to understand what you need to work on and accept that you need to work hard to get better. So, let’s get better. Take it one category at a time and go out and practice that one part of your swing one category or part at a time until you feel like you've mastered it. Rome wasn't built in a day, so realize that your swing will not just magically be great overnight. Takes time and practice to perfect it. We believe in you and want you to believe in yourself. You can do this!

Professional Grade Scale ranges from a eight (8) to a two (2) with 8 being Outstanding, 5 being Average, and 2 being Poor. A player's goal should be to have 6 or higher grades on their mechanics and overall game.
